More teams

More countries

More adventure

We are more then happy to announce that this year will be something special. With 31 teams from 10 different countries we are getting ready for our biggest edition ever.

Next to all the teams we are also really happy with a unique course which is going to cross 5 different countries.

What is eurotrip

EuroTrip is a team race from one European city to another European city. Team consists of 6-8 runners and they have to find there own course from start to finish and several mandatory checkpoints on the way!

The race connects runners, cities and Europe as a whole. EuroTrip shows that running is bigger than borders and that team work makes the dream work. Each team consists of 6 to 8 runners. Teams are free to switch as much as they want between runners, but with one rule: there is always at least one runner running.

First edition was from Bruges to Cologne. We had 8 teams on the starting line. Second edition we raced from Cologne to Strasbourg and we had 18 team on the starting line.

The third edition will be even better. Get your Milka chocolate and your sound of music vibe on because we will go to the Alps. YES we will start in Strasbourg and cross 5!!!! countries towards Innsbruck. For all runners who can no longer sleep or are already stressed at the thought of climbing mountains. Don’t worry, our route won’t have more than 4000hm (number from last year)

Tips

Schedule

Start preparing by creating a running schedule. (check change points on our route map)

Training

The best way to train is to do a simulation like doing 6 times 6km during a day and practice with food and drinks between

Bike

A bike is not mandatory but smart to bring along. Mountainbike is strongly advised!

Driving

Drive safe and take breaks to stay sharp!

Light

At night always wear light for safety

Safety and responsibility

Guys we care about you and want you to celebrate the achievement with all of you in the final bar. That is why we added this chapter.

Emergency numbers: Germany: 112. Switzerland 144 and Austria 144.

Safety

  • I know you will be in race mode but still think about your safety. Don’t do stupid stuff and follow the traffic rules.
  • The mandatory part is a really hard one (YES really hard) so be careful and let your best trail-runner do this part.
  • Take breaks from driving. You will be tired in night 2 so take some breaks to keep you sharp.
  • At night wear safety fest and always light because SAFETY first!
  • DONT run on highways! I know it can save you a few miles but still DONT do it!
  • Some runners don’t like to run alone at night so discuss this with each other and make sure the have company.
  • Bring a first aid kit. This is mandatory in Germany and Austria and also really important.

responsibility

  • We are not responsible for any accidents on the journey. I know it sounds really harsh but we have to mention that all you do on the road is at your own responsibility.
  • We hope you understand that and convinces you to take wise decisions regarding safety and risks.

ROUTE

This year we have a recommended route. This route is as safe as possible (almost no highways), it is beautiful, it’s fast and it’s fun. So yeah the perfect route.

This route has been made in Komoot. this route has been tested (by bike) and we believe that this is the best route possible. of course every team is free to create their own route. We only have one part of the route which is mandatory. This because it is too dangerous taking a different road. This stretch of 15km can be found below. This will be checked by the organisation with the tracker.

You are free to try any route you want BUT we do recommend to make your route or check your route in komoot. On their website you can see what kind of roads your running on. Don't try to run on provincial roads since this is not safe and illegal.

The fast route maker of Strava or the Google Maps route are going over highways. We know this route is 30-40k shorter than the recommended but please don't do this since this is dangerous and illegal. SAFETY FIRST! Shorter is not better!

Checkpoints

The checkpoints are mandatory. You have to check-in with a person or a QR code. Please mention your team name so they can check you in. This is your own responsibility.

Few tips for the checkpoint.

Checkpoint 1 is in the city centre. So not a good spot for cars.

Checkpoint 2 is next to a beautiful lake so perfect place to change and chill.

Checkpoint 3 is a recoveryzone with Normatecs so a perfect place to chill

Checkpoint 4 is just a QR code so bring your phone.

Mandatory route

We will check this route with your tracker! No QR code Route has some very technical parts so bring your best trailrunner (no bike or mountainbike recommended).

Finish

We finish at the sport complex of the University of Innsbruck.

We have our own little setup there where you can chil, relax, recover, have a shower, go to the toilets and just be there.

Important it is not at the Athletic track as previous mentioned. But at the skate ramp. Exact location here. Also the direction to run towards it.

You can park your camper close to here and get a day ticket.

FINISH ZONE

Entrance

Yellow mark and green mark are two different approaches to the entrance (depending on where you come from).

Hotel

Almost all teams are staying in hotel Meininger in the city centre of Innsbruck.

They don’t have parking spots and are located in the centre so it is best to leave your car at the finish and take the bus to the hotel.

The room layout has been made by the captains and should make checkin faster.

Please keep in mind that check-in opens at 15:00. They are trying to have rooms clean earlier but no guarantee.

Breakfast in the morning is between 6:30 and 10:30.

(since they are limited in capacity please don’t all come at 10:15)

Check-out time is 11:00

After party

Maybe the most important thing.

Party time!

This year the party is at Jimmy’s in the centre of Innsbruck. The location is easy walkable from the hotel.

The party starts at 21:00.

At 22:30 we will have a prize ceremony for the first two teams.

The bar closes late.
